Alexander Springs
Location
From the intersection of S-19 and S-40 in the Ocala National
Forest, travel east on S-40 for about 5 miles. Turn right at the Alexander
Springs Recreational Area sign. Take a left on S-445 for about 6 miles to the
entrance of the park. There is a small charge to enter the park, and camping is
also available
Description
The spring feeds the St. Johns River. The cave entrance is
at about 20'-30', but is not easily penetrated. It would take manipulation of
body and gear to enter the cave. The spring does over a good area to snorkel,
with the shallow depth and lots of fish around.
