Olson Sink
Pictures to come soon...Location
Inside Peacock Spring State Park pass by the first parking area (this is Orange Grove), and continue until the small parking area on the right side of the road. The sink is across the road.Description
Sink hole. There is a very small cavern zone, which enters the cave. This is an advanced cave dive and excellent buoyancy control is required. You must be Cave certified to dive this sight!! Never dive above your level of training! The downstream entrance drops down at 10' where you immediately see the permanent line. The line leads to Pot Hole Sink (an emergency exit only, don't try getting in there) and leads up to Peacock 1 (~1000' to Pot Hole and another ~500 to Peacock 1). You can also make a jump at about 200' in to the Crossover Tunnel, which will connect to the Peanut Tunnel about 1000' from Peacock 1. The max depth in the tunnel is ~70' with average depth in the high 50's.The upstream tunnel enters at 10' and drops to 25' where you pick up the main line. This is a large cave, but it has its tight spots. The silt is very fine and if disturbed will stay suspended for quite a while so stay high off the bottom. The main line will lead back to Challenge Sink with a max depth of 70'. There is also a jump that can be made to the Peanut Line, but there is a minor restriction to get there.
