Orange Grove
Location
Inside Peacock Spring State Park Recreational Area. Pull into the
first parking area you come to and walk down the steps to the sink.
Description
Sinkhole depression, with depths in the cavern zone up to
100'. There are two paths to go in the cavern zone, the deeper path on the left
side is the Cathedral Room where depths go to 100'. There is no cave leading
off this room, but it is an enormours room and has amazing visibility. The
other path is to the right side in open water. The cave entrance is at 70' and
goes back about 100' through a narrow tight tunnel to a warning sign and the
permanent line.
You must be Cave or Cavern certified to use this
sight!! Always remember to never dive beyond your level of
training. There is a small open water area outside the cave with
depths approximately 50'-60'. Along the main line the depth gets shallower into
the 50's and makes many turns and drops. There is very fine silt so use proper
fin techniques not to disturb it. The best part of the dive is about 800' in
where there is a vertical fissure ~20' tall and 4' wide. The tunnel leads to
Challenge Sink on a 1600' journey.
