Royal Spring
Location
Take I-10W from Jacksonville, take I-75S toward Tampa. Exit 82 (Lake
City). Turn left off the ramp, take a left on Pinemont Road, Rt. 252, just
before Chevron station. Stay on Rt. 252 until it ends (about 15 miles). Take a
right onto Rt. 129. About 1 mile, turn left back onto Rt. 252. There will be a
flashing stop light and take a left (Rt. 349). Follow for approximately 5
miles. There will be a large sign for a farm of some sort on the left. Just
ahead there is a small sign for Royal Springs and a boat ramp. Take a right and
then a left in about 1 mile with similiar signs as before. In about 500' you
will enter a State Park and stay on the road until it ends at a wooden set of
steps that leads down to the spring.
Description
Spring of the Suwanee River. There is a small open water
area with cool rocks and lots of fish. The entrance to the cavern is very large
with lots of space. Be aware of silting at this sight because it will destroy
visibility very quickly.
You must be Cave or Cavern certified to use
this sight!! Always remember to never dive beyond your training.
